Not as good as Asphalt 6
Compared to Asphalt 6 this is more realistic without nitro and police chases.
But it does look like they did try to save money on copyright issues of tracks and cars. While the tracks have a very similar layout of many real world tracks they are never exactly the same and the name are always changed slightly. Not a too big deal, but it looks a little cheap.
Same with the cars. They look cool, but the selecting is quite limited. There are only a few makes and the biggest super car producers such as ferrari, labroghini and audi are not availabe. The specifications on the cars are also missing and there are only a few upgrades availabe for each car, none for some.
The controls are okay, though not great. You can steer using the trackpad of the arrow keys (or wasd), but unfourtunately you cannot switch between trackpad or keys, they are always both activated. When using the arrow keys and the space key for looking backwards it is very tempting to rest the palm of your hand on the trackpad (on a MacBook), thus activating the trackpad steering which turns of the key steering and makes the car unsteerable. I havet tried the iPhone steering yet, so I cant comment on that.
The levels themself are quite good. The difficulty is definitely increasing and not every level can be beaten on the first try, which is nice. 10 hours of gaming may be a little exaggerated, but 7 or 8 should be correct. During the qualifying session it seems like I am almost always exactly one second behind everyone else, but that might be just me.
Lastly I think that the price is way to steep. It may be more realistic than Asphalt 6, but in the end I would still go for Asphalt, which is only half of the price. Plus, it seems like that the game is most fun with the iOS app, which costs another three bucks. 17 bucks for a Mac racing experience is just too much.
Looking at the other reviews there are still some mayor bucks with the iOS steering, so I would recommend you wait with purchasing or get Asphalt 6 instead, a lot more fun and a lot better value and variety, too.
