Real Racing 2 App Reviews

Absolutely brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant! Ive been playing using my iPhone 4 as a control.. and it works perfectly! The graphics are superb and the gameplay is just great! Much more than I expected! Highly recommended!

Provide a proper remote iOS app and Ill give it 5 stars.

I was really excited to be able to play this on my Macs larger screen using my iPhone as a controller… I just assumed there would be a controller app. Having to go to a website on the iPhone is just ghetto… sure it works but its not very user friendly. You should provide an iOS app to go with the Mac app for a seamless experience across both platforms. As it stands now, my iPhone goes to sleep while Im playing because it thinks Im just staring at a website doing nothing.

Great quality racing game! Especially Love the iOS control feature!!

The game itself is great! I really like high quality and detailed graphics games, and Real Racing 2 is very satisfactory. I would give it 5-Stars without a doubt, except I have a few issues with the iOS web page controller. iOS Web controller: - Orientation: When using my iPhone to control it sometimes changes orientation such that I was in Landscape and then turned into Portrait. This is a vey big problem when I am driving. I have lost control many times because of this. One solution is Orientation Lock, however, for iPhone that only locks into Portrait, which is not as nice to control. I prefer Landscape (like in the example picture above). I would be fine if Portrait driving controls were taken out of the picture all together, or that landscape mode is default and you must manually press a button to switch to portrait. - Top Control Buttons: The buttons at the top--the pause, mirror, and change view buttons-- are a little too high up on the screen and sometimes do not get pressed because the iOS bar at the top is so close. I recommend moving those down just a little. Another complaint is that I would the cars to be more destructible. So far I have only seen the bumpers fall off. I would like to be able to crash into another vehicle and scratch to break their windows to damage their frame. The graphics are already amazing, however, I would just like to see more realism in that respect. Great app! Thanks!!!

HORRIBLE iOS Controls!

Ive enjoyed Real Racing on iOS for a while now and have loved Firemints continued push of airplay features etc. Upon seeing Real Racing on the Mac I quickly purchased it at the relatively steep price (compared to the iOS version). I primarily purchased the game for playing via iOS. If this is your intent... Dont bother! At the time of writing, absolutely no instructions can be found in-game or on the App store description for actually using your iOS device to control the Mac version. After searching Firemints site I had discovered that the way to control this game via iPhone/iPad to is open a URL in Safari. As long as your Mac and your iOS device are on the same wifi connection, the browser on your iOS device *should* recognize the game on the Mac (I have no idea what happens with multiple versions of the game running on the network). This is a TERRIBLE implementation of iOS controls. In the event you steer to the left too much your device assumes you want to view the site in portrait view and thus your cars steering is suddenly switched to the other axis. Also, seeing as how you are looking at the Mac while driving, you might not notice if your hands touch the browsers address bar or search box. Of course doing this interrupts iOSs accelerometer info going to the game and your car inevitably smashes into the wall. It really does feel like a hack-ish trick to kinda/sorta do the job; NOT the quality I expected from Firemint. Advertising/images on the App store clearly show that Firemint recognizes this as a selling point. My faith in the developer has certainly been lost.

Really good game but...

I really like this game. I use my Ipad as a steering wheel and it works great although it is a bit on the sensitive side although there is a setting to adjust that and I have not played with it. The racing is fun, graphics are great. The couple of issues that I see with this game (and hence why it does not get 5 stars) are: 1- The IPAD locks itself up after a while because the way to control the game is through Safari (either through a website or by directly connecting to the iMac). I could disable this setting but it is cumbersome to disable the screen saving of the Ipad just for this game. 2- The Imac screen will dim after a while and I need to move the mouse to tell it that Im playing the game… again, thats odd. The game should know that I am playing with a remote controller. This may seem like not much but I ended up in the wall a few times because I had to move the mouse. Other than the 2 issues above, great game, if you like car racing games, get this one. I trust the developper will eventually fix the 2 issues listed in this review.

Not as good as Asphalt 6

Compared to Asphalt 6 this is more realistic without nitro and police chases. But it does look like they did try to save money on copyright issues of tracks and cars. While the tracks have a very similar layout of many real world tracks they are never exactly the same and the name are always changed slightly. Not a too big deal, but it looks a little cheap. Same with the cars. They look cool, but the selecting is quite limited. There are only a few makes and the biggest super car producers such as ferrari, labroghini and audi are not availabe. The specifications on the cars are also missing and there are only a few upgrades availabe for each car, none for some. The controls are okay, though not great. You can steer using the trackpad of the arrow keys (or wasd), but unfourtunately you cannot switch between trackpad or keys, they are always both activated. When using the arrow keys and the space key for looking backwards it is very tempting to rest the palm of your hand on the trackpad (on a MacBook), thus activating the trackpad steering which turns of the key steering and makes the car unsteerable. I havet tried the iPhone steering yet, so I cant comment on that. The levels themself are quite good. The difficulty is definitely increasing and not every level can be beaten on the first try, which is nice. 10 hours of gaming may be a little exaggerated, but 7 or 8 should be correct. During the qualifying session it seems like I am almost always exactly one second behind everyone else, but that might be just me. Lastly I think that the price is way to steep. It may be more realistic than Asphalt 6, but in the end I would still go for Asphalt, which is only half of the price. Plus, it seems like that the game is most fun with the iOS app, which costs another three bucks. 17 bucks for a Mac racing experience is just too much. Looking at the other reviews there are still some mayor bucks with the iOS steering, so I would recommend you wait with purchasing or get Asphalt 6 instead, a lot more fun and a lot better value and variety, too.

Cant believe how good it looks and plays

This is a real treat being able to play a game on my Mac of such high quality. Looks really nice and runs really smooth on my (2011) MacBook Air. I am not a fan of tilt controls anyway, but keyboard is working great for me (sensitivity set to zero, all assists off). Just one little thing, is it just me or did they forget a Quit/Exit option? I had to CMD+Q to get out.

Great Game, Online Play Could Use Some Work.

The graphics are decent and the realism of how the cars perform is pretty good. The car selection is excellent, any gearhead would find it hard to deny that, and the variety of tracks, head to head challenges, time trials, elimination races and quick races will keep you interested for a while. A few downsides to the game, one is that the online play is completely useless, unless you have the fastest car in the game and it doesnt seem to be bracketed either, so you could enter with say a Nissan GT-R, or even a Volvo C30 and you would be the only one not to have a McLauren F1 which means you never win. Secondly, the in-app purchases can make the game pretty expensive if you partake and lastly the damage to the cars while racing is purely superficial and unrealistic. All in all, for a non-console racing game, it is quite entertaining, and if the online play was bracketed for the performance levels of the cars it would be nearly perfect. I would recommend it for anyone looking to have some fun who arent to anal about the details.

Bad

This game is laggy and very bad. The cars are always slower then the computers cars. DONT BUY THIS GAME IS BAD

Good but...

I really like this game but it dissapoints me when the setting for my iphone to be the controller doesnt work very well. On average it will work for one game then it will stop responding. Please fix this soon so I can play the game I enjoy again! Thanks

What a game

Its worth the $12 for this game. Totally awesome, fun to play and loads very quickly.

Best Racing game ever played!

This game is so stunning in grafics and so innovating. five stars love the game lololololololololololoł

Please fix these issues:

First: The iphone controller sometimes lags and sends you flying into a wall out of controll witch gets very annoying. Second: Even on easy the opponents are faster than you (not because I keep losing but it gets annoyiing when they just pass you) Third: This could be 5 star if you added more cars like porsche, ferrari and lamborghini. Please fix the issues thanks.

Couldnt be LESS happy!

Just bought the game and cant get the bloody thing to load. I own a brand new MacBook Pro, so I should have more than enough under the hood to play. It just keeps wanting to update. I run the update three times now and still nothing. The only good thing is that I just wasted 12.99!!!

Wont run, play.

Same issues as other users. The game loads but there is no sound at start up and it automatically takes you to Game Center. After that, it just wants you to update the RR2 software. Again tried this twice and the game still does not play. Save your money until they work out the bugs...

Unbeliviable!

I dont know what these other people are talking about but I havent had a single problem on a 13 Macbook Pro! This is a must have for people who like to race.

What the….?

I purchased this with hopes that it actually would download…well after mulitple tries it says that the download failed and to "retry". No matter how many times I try, it wont work. Which makes me mad because I did pay for this and I cant even download it. Has anyone else had this problem? And what can I do to get my money back?

great game

i love to play with my ipod to control he car is nice for 12;99 game is amazing

Awsome Game!

I bought this game because I liked racing. This game is really fun, but theres one problem. When ever I start up the game, it will possibly glitch, and cursor will automatically move to the top left of the the screen. If you can fix this glitch, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!

love it
